Singer-songwriter Jessie Malakouti has been making the rounds on the pop circuit for years now. She’s done some work with The Saturday’s and Pet Shop Boys, scored a spot on a Ministry of Sound compilation, and was embroiled in a scandal when Perez Hilton ridiculously accused Britney Spears of stealing one of Jessie’s songs to create “If U Seek Amy”, but Jessie’s true crowning moment was when the Plastic Princess of Pop Heidi Montag decided to cover and release her tune “Trash Me”.
Since everything these days requires a gimmick, Jessie has since reinvented herself from plain old Jessie Malakouti to Jessie & the Toy Boys — which is basically just Jessie by herself standing around with a bunch of mannequins in all her promo shots.
A 2 minute clip of her debut single “Push It” premiere on her official Youtube page over the weekend. The clubby pop track features rising white rapper Yelawolf, and was produced by Jimmy Harry (Kylie, Pink, Amy Pearson’s trash classic “Butterfingers”) and No Doubt’s Tony Kanal.
Check it out below. It’s no “Butterfingers”, but but it’s cute.
