The Vaccines go down a storm at KCKSU

The Vaccines played a storming set at Kings College London Student Union Saturday night.

A short, sharp and sizzling set saw the indie quartet kick off with 'Wreckin' Bar (Ra Ra Ra)' and immediately the excitement of their live show was visible for all to see.

After having been announced 3rd in the BBC Sound of 2011 the boys have continued to create a well deserved stir in the industry.

Frontman Justin Young told the audience 'As a London band we don't have a home venue as such but you are making us feel really welcome.'

'Six months ago I was a history student here, and now we're playing it'.

Current single 'Post Break-Up Sex' which was refered to as 'a song about us' was also one of the many crowd pleasers.

Music-News.com was on hand to witness the moment, check out the videos below.

Vanessa Paradis doesn't want to 'please everyone'

The French singer-and-actress ' who has children Lily-Rose, 11, and seven-year-old Jack with partner Johnny Depp - was upset when she once heard a TV presenter criticise her vocal ability but learned to accept not everyone will enjoy her work.

She said: 'A TV presenter was once talking about people he couldn't stand and one of them was me.

'He said my voice was too quiet; as a singer, that's a pretty bad thing to hear. But then you can't please everyone, and I don't want to.'

The 38-year-old beauty ' who shot to fame as a singer aged just 14 - has also spent time as a model for brands such as Miu Miu and Chanel, but doesn't think it overshadows her other work.

She revealed: ' started in music ' and modelling and acting came later, so I don't think that side of things has made people in the music industry take me any less seriously.

'Anyway, I started at an age when I didn't look my best ' I was only a teenager.' MUSIC-NEWS.COM

Interpol to release new single 'Lights'

Interpol release their new single 'Lights' on March 21st 2011, through Soft Limit / Co-Operative Music as a digital download only.

The third single to be taken from their eponymous fourth album, 'Lights' encompasses Daniel Kessler's distinct guitar tones with the potency of Paul Banks brooding vocals, combining to climax after 5 minutes and 38 seconds of eerie intensity.

The accompanying video ' directed by visual artist Charlie White ' exploits the relationship between sex and death, and explores the release of pheremones within the uncharted world of the Three-Horned Rhinoceros beetle. Considered the muse throughout the production process, the beetle was the perfect compliment to the dominance of black that constantly surrounds Interpol.

How to Write a Rap Song

This article will show you how to create the standard rap song and how to add your own style to it. Start with the fundamentals, then shape your creation into a masterpiece.

Think about the topic of your Rap.

Create a low tone ( low note etc). The bass line should be in the same key as the song so that there are no 'sour notes' and the beat is easy to work with. The bass line should not be as lengthed as the melody line but should work with it and fit together. Also never forget to add lyrics. If you dont have softwares or instruments, search for beat on youtube

Structure the song. A popular song structure would be: Intro, verse, chorus, verse, chorus, chorus, middle 8 (AKA breakdown), chorus, outro. The intro usually consists of all the parts playing, the verse would be just the bass and the drum beat, then the chorus should be all parts playing, the middle 8 (breakdown) should be anything of your choice but must distinguish itself from the rest of the song and the outro is simply the beat just playing on until the song ends.

Write lyrics. Rap about anything, but remember to write to the beat, and make sure that your 'flow' is not whack! Just make sure that the lyrics match or just associate with the name of the song. Put your heart into it, be in love with the song when recording it or writing it. Just keep rapping.

Listen to your inner rapper to figure out what works best. If you are not sure what to say, remember that the point is to get beyond your mind/memory. Make up sounds and let new language emerge. Try focusing on famous musical artists you respect/love ones/Jah/your heart and see if that affects what comes out. Focus on rhythm and feeling... Let go, flow and appreciate. Ask people for advice

Keep in mind, what you're going to rap about and keep writing everything that runs through it on something, if your on a bus, paper or your hand will work just fine, a book would be nice too. Then read everything later and keep the BEST material.

Try to rhyme at least once a sentence, make sure not to repeat words , unless it's a verse, or at least sounds cool. Keep a constant tone, if you want to have fun with different voices then dub it over later. People can tell when you're changing your voice and it's lame at best.

You don't need to buy FL Studio to get started. There's plenty of free audio editors, such as Audacity that provide a free way to make music. If you happen to have an apple mac computer, those come with Garageband, which will allow you to record right out of the box! Also remember to keep it simple and make sure it has rhythm and beat!

How to Remix

The basic idea behind what we have, has been around for far longer than many realize. Its roots are in Jamaica, where in the late 60's, producers like Lee "Scratch" Perry and King Tubby started releasing dub versions of tracks to occupy the B side of 45s. These would usually be made to sound different than the original by adding effects (spring reverb, tape delay, flanging, eq, etc), and by cutting and rearranging the individual parts.
In a remix, it's possible to change the style, feel, even the emotional meaning of the track by changing the context of sections, reharmonizing melodies, adding additional elements, etc. Though the remixer has a foundation of existing material to build on, they are not restrained in any way. You're free to take that foundation, shift it around, and make it raise the roof!!

Select the right track. This is very important; since this is a derivative art form (you can't remix a nonexistent piece of music). You'll need, at the very least, a complete mixdown of the original track (taken directly from the CD). If you can get separate tracks (especially for vocals) directly from the recording artist, it will make your remix better, and your work easier.

Try to identify what you will contribute to the track. This can range from changing the feel by adding new rhythm tracks, to total destruction. Think about what sections you like best; what would you keep intact, and what will you change? This is an important stage, because it will shape your workflow throughout the project.

Dissect the track. Take the materials you have to work with, and do most of the slicing and trimming up front. You can do this in an audio editing suite, especially when it comes to cutting loops (see below for tips and links).

Experiment! Try all the available effects in your DAW/audio editing software to see how they will sound on each part! There are plenty of things to choose from ... delay, phaser, chorus, flanger, filters and other eq, reverb, amplitude modulation, ring modulation, frequency modulation, timestretching, pitch shifting or correction, vocoding and more.

Reconstruct (remix). First, set the BPM (tempo - beats per minute) and time signature (usually 4/4 in popular music) in your looping software. Next, import your loops. Once they are imported and time corrected, you should be able to choose any tempo you like, with very little loss of quality. (Note: If you are using Ableton Live, be sure to select a time correction method that jives with your sample type. Beat mode is fine for drums, but may not be great for vocals. Texture mode is fine for many samples, but will often affect the pitch of the sample slightly. Tone is usually good all around.) Now you can start to reconstruct the track. A safe and easy way would be to follow the form of the original (intro, verse, chorus, verse, bridge, and chorus) but you can also completely change it and make it your own. You can layer the vocals from the verse over a portion of the chorus. You can take a verse as-is, cut individual measure of vocals, and superimpose them reversed. You can reharmonize the vocal or lead lines by introducing completely different elements. Have fun, and experiment!

Export your creation (mastering). When your remix now has a start and finish, and you are satisfied with it, you should export. Save all or export to a WAV or AIFF file (don't encode an MP3 just yet). Load this into your audio editing software, and normalize it to 99%. This will ensure that your levels at their highest point reach almost the maximum volume. In addition, you can make your remix seem louder by applying a compressor effect to it before normalizing.

Distribute your remix. Convert this file to MP3, using Lame, or your favorite MP3 converter, and send it all around! WIKIHOW.COM

Things You'll Need How to Be a Dance Music DJ Using CDs

  • A good selection of CDs within the same general genre of dance music.
  • A performance license for your music if playing a commercial venue.
  • 2 professional DJ CD-players.
  • A 2-channel DJ mixer.
  • Quality headphones (meaning they do not distort at high volumes. This will allow you to be able to hear what is playing in the headphones equally as loud as what is presently playing from the loudspeakers).
    • "DJ Style" headphones are not the same thing as "Pro DJ" headphones. You will need to go to an audio store to find good headphones, not Wal-Mart or Best Buy.
  • A decent sound system including speakers, sub woofers, monitors, and if the speakers are not powered an amplifier.
  • The desire to learn and improve (this also means accepting constructive criticism from others, because you can use that to your advantage to learn as well). A good DJ does not only play the songs well, but he also listens well.
  • Patience and practice.

Warnings How to Be a Dance Music DJ Using CDs

  • If you value your hearing, invest in earplugs! There are companies that will custom mold ear plugs to fit your ear, and these block out all harmful frequencies from entering your ears and damaging the hairs inside. Music playing at loud volumes can and will damage your hearing if it is beyond your hearing threshold! After all, a good DJ is one who is not deaf.
  • If you value your equipment, keep the volume down. Most speaker system amplifiers have built-in overrides that set a maximum on the volume. However, this doesn't mean you can just keep turning up the volume, as that will cause an increasing amount of distortion, and your set will sound horrible.
  • Actually own the music you'll be playing, or, at least, have the rights to play it publicly. The RIAA may not be making quite as big of a fuss over Internet music downloading as they once were, but if you get caught playing illegally copied music, you could lose your job, your reputation, your equipment, your music, and any chance at getting any of that back. Even legally copied music played without appropriate license is a copyright violation. Just play it safe.
    • Note: If you are playing a commercial venue such as a night club you must have a performance license for your music or music that is sold to DJs as "promo only" or with an included performance license. CDs you bought from the CD store in the mall are not allowed to be used for performance purposes.
  • Don't buy a boxed "DJ package" endorsed by some big-name DJ. The stuff in there is most-likely top-notch junk. Look for package deals at music stores ("Buy 2 Numark Axis 9s, get one Numark DM-10 2-channel DJ Mixer at half-price!"...or something like that).
  • Make sure the volume of your tracks is leveled. If it is not, the volume level of the music will be different on each song, and it will make you look like a bad DJ, and you will constantly get complaints about it not being loud enough, or being too loud.
    • Use the gain knobs on the mixer to adjust the individual track levels with finer precision. That is what they're for.
  • Be careful where you place your drink. Always set your drink away from your DJ equipment to avoid any damage caused by spilling. WIKIHOW.COM

Tips How to Be a Dance Music DJ Using CDs

  • Many DJs choose to come up with the playlist off the top of their heads for a spontaneous feeling; particularly DJs with more experience in the field. Doing so requires incredibly intimate knowledge of one's music collection, but it makes for a set that fits the crowd better. It is recommended to have a playlist prepared if you're a beginner.
  • Keep an ear on the main speakers actually broadcasting the music to the masses. Your headphones are most likely high-quality stuff designed to play music clearly at any levels, but the sound you hear in your 'phones does not represent the sound playing on the speakers. The same applies to booth monitors. You could be hearing a finely tuned symphony of techno-heaven in your DJ booth, and the crowd could be receiving an ear-bashing, brain-splitting train wreck.
    • A set of monitors is especially helpful for this. Monitors are speakers in the DJ booth that play the same thing as the speakers on the dance floor.
  • When practicing, if your mixer allows, record your work on a computer (GarageBand, Microsoft Sound Recorder, Ambrosia Software's WireTap Pro, etc.) or through a tape-player. Listen to your mixes to figure out what needs work, and focus on that during the next practice session. Once you believe you are good enough, plan and record an hour-long mix, record it, and burn it to CDs (your new business card) for promotional purposes.
  • Make sure you test your equipment before an event. You want to make sure there is nothing wrong with it. You also want to familiarize yourself with the gear if it is not the same as the stuff you have at home.
  • Don't start of the dance with the volume really loud. Start with a moderate volume, and boost it up tiny bits at a time until about halfway through the dance.
  • Not all DJ sets have to be planned. A great DJ will be able to read their crowd, to develop their set based on the emotion and energy on the dance floor. Tweak your set based on how people react to songs at particular times of the night.

How to Be a Dance Music DJ Using CDs

"DJs" or "Disk Jockeys" are people who play music to the public for parties, special events, or just plain fun. There are several types of DJs, according to setting, style, and genre of the music being played. This guide will discuss mixing dance music with CD players

Make sure you put out a piece of paper for requests. If people want to make requests, they will usually only do it if there is a piece of paper. You might want to do this a given time before you start playing. Other reasons for the sheet of paper are that people might be too shy to talk to the DJ, or they might not have access to the stage to submit a request. As a result there will be patrons upset about not hearing the song they want. This is not necessary if you do not intend to take requests.

Plan a "set" (a list of songs to be played) before setting foot inside a DJ booth. Choose which songs to play and in which order. Songs should be chosen by Beats Per Minute (tempo), genre, and key. Choose songs that "flow" together well. Song selection should be made from a collection of music within the same genre or closely related genres.

Load the first selection and, simply enough, press play on the CD player, which will from hereon be referred to as deck 1, to begin playing the song. You should ensure that the channel volume for deck 1 is turned up and the master volume is at a comfortable level. If you are using the crossfader ensure it is either in the middle or all the way to deck 1.

Load the next selection into deck 2 (the other CD player). Ensure that the channel volume for deck 2 is either all the way down or if using the crossfader that it is all the way to deck 1, and press play on deck 2. You will be able to hear the music coming from deck 2 in your headphones but it should not be playing to the speakers. This is where the "mixing" begins.

Listen to a portion of the next track on deck 2, and try to judge the tempo and adjust the pitch/tempo fader to match the track playing on deck 1. This is called beat matching and involves ensuring the beat from deck 1 and deck 2 are exactly the same speed and lined up. The more you become familiar with the genre or style of music you are playing, the easier it will become.

Start the new song in deck 2 over, and find the rough location of your cue point. A cue point is the exact point in the song that you wish to hear when you press play. Generally you will use the first bass-drum kick as the cue point. Usually, this is done by pressing the cue button found on the player, and then searching with the search buttons or jog wheel until you are right in front of bear. When you tap the cue button you should hear a single beat as long as you don't hold it.

Still using your headphones ensure your songs are perfectly beat matched when you press play on deck 2. To do this mix it in only in your headphones well before you actually intend to send it to the speakers and ensure it stays on beat.

Wait for the point in the song playing on deck 1 in which you wish to begin mixing the song on deck 2 into the mix. At this point, press play on deck 2; either with the crossfader at 50% (in the middle), or with the crossfader at deck 1, and slowly moving it from deck 1, to the middle, and eventually all the way to deck 2, so that only the song on deck 2 will remain in the mix from that point. You can not hear the change in volume in the headphones, so many DJs wear their headphones with one side off of the ear so that they can hear what is coming out of their monitors, as well as what is going on before the music leaves the mixer.
  • Note: The use of the crossfader is not necessary. You can also mix using the channel volume levels and completely disable the crossfader.
  • The period of time that you allow both songs to play simultaneously before cutting the first track is completely up to you. However, most dance music is constructed with a ~1minute intro and and outro and it should be safe to leave the intro of one song mixer over the outro of another for the full minute without worrying about clashing vocals or abrupt changes. This will come with practice and knowledge of your music.
Continue to switch back and forth between decks. There are many "tricks" and techniques that have not been discussed in this guide, since this is just a basic explanation for complete beginners, or people curious as to what the heck that groovy-looking dude in the DJ booth is so focused on while he is "in the mix."

Music school

Music may have been in existence for at least 50,000 years and the first music may have been invented in Africa and then evolving to become a fundamental constituent of human life.
Within the biblical tradition, Hebrew litany was accompanied with rich music, but the Torah or Pentateuch was silent on the practice and instruction of music in the early life of Israel. However, by I Samuel 10, Alfred Sendrey suggests that we find “a sudden and unexplained upsurge of large choirs and orchestras, consisting of thoroughly organized and trained musical groups, which would be virtually inconceivable without lengthy, methodical preparation.” This has led some scholars to believe that the prophet Samuel was the patriarch of a school which taught not only prophets and holy men, but also sacred-rite musicians.
The Schola cantorum (papal choir), may be the first recorded music school in history, when Gregory the Great (590-604) made permanent an existing guild dating from the 4th Century ('schola' originally referred more to a guild rather than school). The school consisted of monks, secular clergy, and boys. Wells Cathedral School, England founded as a Cathedral School in 909 a.d. to educate choristers, continues today to educate choristers and teaches instrumentalists. However the school appears to have been refounded at least once.
Saint Martial school, 10th to 12th century, was an important school of composition at the Abbey of Saint Martial, Limoges. It is known for the composition of tropes, sequences, and early organum. In this respect, it was an important precursor to the Notre Dame School. It was the Notre Dame school (late 12th and early 13th century) which was the earliest repertory of polyphonic (multipart) music to gain international prestige and circulation. The school was a group of composers and singers working under the patronage of the great Cathedral of Notre-Dame in Paris.
The term Conservatory derives from Renaissance (16th century) Italy where orphanages were attached to hospitals. The Orphans (conservati) were given a musical education and the term gradually applied to music schools. The Conservatories have been the first secular institutions equipped for practical training in music. By the 18th century, Italian conservatories were already playing a major role in the training of artists and composers.
The first secular school of music for students at large was established in Paris in 1784. In 1795 it was reorganized and renamed the Conservatoire National de Musique et d’Art Dramatique. Admission was by competitive examination and tuition was free. Later the curriculum was enlarged to include all branches of composition, instrumental, vocal technique, and acting. At the beginning of the 19th century the French model was copied, with modifications, in many European cities, including Bologna (1804), Milan (1807), Naples (1808), Florence and Prague (1811), Warsaw and Vienna (1821), London (1822), the Hague (1826), and Liege (1827) The second half of the 19th century saw the network expanding to the Americas, Rio de Janeiro (1847), Boston (1853), Baltimore and Chicago (1868), Havana (1885), and Buenos Aires (1893). Establishments for advanced training in music were organized in the 1940s in several Asian and African countries, including Iraq, Lebanon, and Kenya

Specialist music schools exist in many countries and whose purpose is to identify, and assist, children with exceptional potential, to benefit from world-class specialist training as part of a broad and balanced education, which will enable them, if they choose, to proceed towards self-sustaining careers in music. These schools may be formallyor informally attached to a Conservatory. Entry is typically between the ages of ages 8 and 18 and admission is through competitive audition. Schools may be public or independent, where schools are independent pupils may be in receipt of governmentalor private scholorships. Typically as students progress through the school the time spent on music increases and on academic subjects decrease. These schools usually wholly comprise of instrumentalists but may also include choristers. Some schools (like conservatories) are broader and may cover the performing arts; music, drama, dance.

Music schools within schools

Many music schools are located within existing schools. The pattern is quite diverse and may include;
Specialist music units (Scotland) where students are drawn from an area wider than the host schools catchment. Students will receive specialist music tuition within the music school but are fully integrated within the host school for other lessons. Entry to the specialist music unit or school is by competitive audition, which also effectively gives entry to the host school.
Many public or independent schools contain music departments, some of which achieve high standards. These are sometimes referred to as Music schools. Music Colleges in England are schools that get additional private and governmental money to specialise in music. Entry, is to the host school and musical ability is not a criteria. Schools which perform highly may specialise in an additional area for example sports or technology.

Soca Rage

Soca is a descendant of calypso. In the early 1970s, electric guitar and bass were added to the traditional calypso ensemble, and by the 1980s most groups were using synthesizers as well. The increasing sophistication of recording technology and the continued competition between groups directed the music toward a more complicated and thought-out musical style that focused increasingly on the musical sound rather than the texts. The suitability of the music for dancing, rather than listening, also became an important factor. Around 1970, the term "soca," meaning "soul-calypso," was coined to refer to the new, energetic, and disco-influenced party music. The rhythm is not entirely standardized, but its character is captured by a steady bass drumbeat against which a highly syncopated cymbal and snare drum pattern are juxtaposed. As in reggae, the bass line, also syncopated, is particularly important and is often the predominant instrument in the mix. Because of the competitive nature of the music, musicians often dress in elaborate costumes, incorporate a variety of gimmicks, and use stage effects to stand out among their rivals. ~ Keith Johnson

Britney taps Jonas Åkerlund for “Hold It Against Me” music video.

Britney Spears is pulling out the big guns this era, enlisting celebrated Swedish director Jonas Åkerlund to shoot the music video for her hit single “Hold It Against Me”.
“Dance, dance, and more dance,” the singer Tweeted earlier. “Getting ready to shoot the video for HIAM this week with Jonas Akerlund. Super excited!”
Is it just me or are Britney’s team putting a lot of focus on her dancing this era? They can definitely talk the talk, but whether or Britney can walk the walk is another story.
Anyway, Akerland’s videography boasts some pretty impressive clips, including Madonna’s “Ray of Light” and “Music”, The Smashing Pumpkins’ “Try, Try, Try” and “The Everlasting Gaze”, The Prodigy’s “Smack My Bitch Up”, Lady GaGa’s “Paparazzi”, Christina Aguilera’s “Beautiful”, and Rihanna’s “Who’s That Chick”. He’s also shot some stinkers like Madge’s pussy poppin’ granny porn “Celebration” and Lady GaGa and BeYawnce’s overhyped ”Telephone”, but I know that The Holy Spearit will get nothing but the best out of Jonas.
By the way, “Hold It Against Me” debuted at No. 16 on the Billboard Pop Songs Chart, tying with Madonna’s “Frozen” for the second-highest debut on the chart, just behind Mariah Carey’s “Dreamlover”. We’ll find out if it snagged that golden Hot 100 No.1 when the chart is revealed Wednesday.

Shakira shoots in Ibiza + The xx collaboration in the works.

A fluro pink Shakira was snapped on the set of a new photoshoot in Ibiza yesterday.
It’s not yet been revealed exactly what the shoot was for, but with a new album Sale El Sol (Translation: Sunrise) on the way, there’s a good chance that it could be related to that.
The album is currently due this September, and will be bilingual just like Enrique’s latest record Euphoria. According to Glamor magazine, it will only include three English tracks, but I’d wait until the official tracklisting is unveiled before jumping the gun.
Meanwhile, I was flipping through the latest issue of Q magazine this week, and they reported that Shakira is actually set to collaborate with indie band The xx. They didn’t go into much detail, just mentioning that it was happening and quoting Shakira as saying, “I’m not sure I’m supposed to talk about it”. Unless you’ve been living under a rock, then you would’ve heard Shakira’s fabulous cover of The xx’s “Islands”. Perhaps her collaboration means that she’s including the song on her next album?

Introducing… f(x).

Since K-Pop is so hot right now, and girl groups are literally dead in the US, I thought I’d do a post on a fierce group called f(x) who are currently on the rise.
The fivesome were launched last year through SM Entertainment as an edgier, more urban sounding and dance based counterpart to labelmates Girls’ Generation. While all K-pop groups can dance, f(x) can really dance – think BoA, but five of her instead of one. They’re also multi-national, with a Chinese member (Victoria – Age 23), two Koreans (Luna – Age 17, Sulli – Age 16) and two Americans: Amber, age 18, is Chinese-American and was born and raised in Orange Country, California; and Krystal, age 16, is Korean-American and was born in San Fransisco.
Tomboy Amber is the most unique member of the group: The rapper always dresses in masculine clothing, complete with short hair and a boyish voice. She’s basically a really hot Asian lesbian (I’m assuming), but she hasn’t gone on record to discuss her sexuality just yet.
f(x) first hit the scene last year with a cute little R&B-pop jam called “La Cha Ta”, which was then followed up with a dual single with SNSD called “Chocolate Love”. Both were successful, which led to F(x)’s first proper single “Chu”. The girls then went away for a few months, and returned in May with their first mini-album “Nu ABO”. It was a huge success and helped establish the fivesome as incredibly dancers and one of the hottest new girl groups out (*cough* way better than flops like SISTAR and Miss A *cough*).
The girls were supposed to release a second mini-album at the beginning of this month, but Amber injured her ankle a few months back and has been missing in action ever since, recuperating in America. While the rest of f(x) have continued promotional activities, a statement from their management confirmed that they won’t be releasing their next album until Amber is back.
Hopefully Amber’s ties to America will encourage f(x)’s management to consider a US release in the future.
Check out F(x)’s epic “Nu ABO” music video below, as well as a killer live performance of “Chu”, below.

Young newcomer Ulrik Munther premieres “Boys Don’t Cry” music video.

There’s been an increasing number of young male pop tarts entering the industry lately: From Justin Bieber and Cody Simpson to Ellen’s discovery Greyson Chance, it appears that cute teen idols are set to become the hot new thing in pop.
The latest kid to enter the craze is Swedish singer-songwriter-musician Ulrik Munther. The multi-talented 16-year-old has a voice that blows Justin and Cody out of the water and enough talent to rival Greyson — without the cheesy Adult Contemporary tunes, might I add. If writing his own music and having an incredible voice isn’t enough to cement his talent, Ulrik also plays the drums, guitar, piano and even the damn harmonica.
The youngster first shot to fame on Youtube (where else), and was then the subject of a massive bidding war (of course) between about fifty trillion different record labels. He eventually signed with Universal Music, where he spent the past year touring and honing his craft.
He’s now premiered the music video for his first single “Boys Don’t Cry” — a Ryan Tedder-esque acoustic power ballad written and produced by Ulrik alongside Swedish producer Johan Åberg, who has previously worked with Cher and Christina Aguilera.
Ulrik may not have the picture-perfect image or superstar name (Ulrik Munther? Not sexy) of his teen contemporaries, but with a talent this strong and backing from Universal Music, he certainly has a very bright future.
Justin, Cody, Greyson — your wigs have been saaaa-natched!

Jessie and the Toy Boys premiere debut single “Push It”.

Singer-songwriter Jessie Malakouti has been making the rounds on the pop circuit for years now. She’s done some work with The Saturday’s and Pet Shop Boys, scored a spot on a Ministry of Sound compilation, and was embroiled in a scandal when Perez Hilton ridiculously accused Britney Spears of stealing one of Jessie’s songs to create “If U Seek Amy”, but Jessie’s true crowning moment was when the Plastic Princess of Pop Heidi Montag decided to cover and release her tune “Trash Me”.
Since everything these days requires a gimmick, Jessie has since reinvented herself from plain old Jessie Malakouti to Jessie & the Toy Boys — which is basically just Jessie by herself standing around with a bunch of mannequins in all her promo shots.
A 2 minute clip of her debut single “Push It” premiere on her official Youtube page over the weekend. The clubby pop track features rising white rapper Yelawolf, and was produced by Jimmy Harry (Kylie, Pink, Amy Pearson’s trash classic “Butterfingers”) and No Doubt’s Tony Kanal.
Check it out below. It’s no “Butterfingers”, but but it’s cute.

Introducing… French trash diva Ysa Ferrer.

While Karina Bradley will always remain The Prophet Blog’s original Queen of Trash, she now has some stiff competition from French dance diva Ysa Ferrer.
The 38-year-old has actually been around since the mid-nineties, but I only discovered her holiness last month when my friend Mike from Pop Trash Addicts came over introduced me to Ysa while we were smoking weed and eating Doritos at my place on a Saturday night.
Ysa has received a resurgence in popularity across Europe over the past few months thanks to her stunning hit “French Kiss”. The flawless electro anthem was produced by Chew Fu (the genius behind Rihanna’s divine Rated R: Remixed), and the only thing I can say that I don’t like about it is that my idol Heidi Montag didn’t record it first!
The video is also a thing of absolute beauty. I’m surprised that Miss Ferrer isn’t a fashion icon across Europe, as at one point during the video she rocks a wig so huge that it makes Kim Zolciak’s look like a crew cut by comparison. The choreography also has to be seen to believed — it really makes you feel like you’re sitting front row at the Monster Ball tour watching an exhausted Lady GaGa lethargically move around on stage trying to ‘dance’ like she’s the white Janet Jackson. Plus, her backup dancers look like two gay leftover rejects from Rihanna’s Rated R era.
Ysa’s hits don’t just end at “French Kiss” though: Her follow-up smash “Hands Up” is almost as good, and even features a non-existent feature from Perez Hilton. The “Hands Up” music video is also worth mentioning as it’s very Beyonce-esque in style, containing repeated pussy popping and a hairdo that looks like Bey’s natural locks without one of her Dereon dime store weaves to hide it beneath.
Ysa Ferrer… My new Queen…

Clare Maguire premieres “The Last Dance” music video.

Literally every 6 months the UK spits out some new female artist and then dubs her “the next big thing”. The ladies are always young, talented, and have a nice mixture of both indie credibility and mainstream appeal. Clare Maguire is the latest product of this never-ending cycle, and she’s just premiered the music video for her second official single “The Last Dance”.
The attractive 23-year-old possesses a good ear for pop tunes and deep, throaty wail (i.e. the complete opposite of Ellie Goulding’s voice) that landed her fifth place on BBC’s The Sound of 2011 list,  a spot on MTV’s Brand New: For 2011 Acts list, and a “Next Big Thing” Q Award. So yeah, there’s a lot riding on the woman this year.
“The Last Dance” is probably the most mainstream sounding song we’ve heard from Claire thus far, which is definitely a good thing since it should allow her to turn some of this critical buzz into commercial success. It’s not a bad tune, and you’ll find yourself nodding along wants the drums and bass really pick up towards the middle of the song.
Check it out below. And yes, I’m fully aware that she resembles Katy Perry in this video.

Tiffany Dunn premieres “Too Bad I Love You” music video.

Tiffany Dunn is the latest chick on the block looking for pop stardom in 2011. The singer-songwriter/dancer is signed to Darkchild’s label under Epic Records, and she made a bit of noise online last year with her urban/pop/reggaeton hybrid single “Shut the Front Door (Got My Girls)”, but it didn’t really take off, so now she’s back with her next offering “Too Bad I Love You”.
The Darkchild produced track has a similar sound to another one of his hits, “The One” by Mary J. Blige — all throbbing bass, urban-pop and autotune. Unlike tunes by Katy Perry and Lady GaGa, Tiffany’s “Too Bad I Love You” doesn’t really contain an obviously huge hook, with the song keeping a steady pace and tempo the whole time to create something that becomes addictive after repeated listens, rather than just providing the listener with instant gratification.
Tiff does a nice job on the song’s music video, smackin’ her gum and whining about an annoying boyfriend in between scenes of some fly b-girl dance moves and a pretty wild breakdance  solo.
With her blonde hair, killer choreography and urban beats, Tiffany could easily pass for a mixture of Ciara and Britney circa 2004. Unfortunately, 2004 and earlier seems like the era where Tiffany would’ve actually thrived — I mean, she’s still doing urban beats, dancing her ass off, she has a normal, gimmick-free image, and she actually spelled the title of her latest single correctly instead of using text speak (“2 Bad I Luv U”).
I’m not sure how a pop artist like Tiffany is going to fare in today’s market, but if you give her a real try then you might just become a fan. I know I already am.

Since when did Kelly Clarkson sing sexy songs like this?

Pop-rock princess Kelly Clarkson surprised her fans today when a very un-Kelly like song called “Cleopatra” leaked online earlier. The song still has pop rock influences, but it’s a little urban, and a whole lot sexier than we are used to hearing from the “Never Again” singer, raising questions about the direction of her upcoming fifth album.
Before you start accusing Clive Davis of stripping off Kelly’s clothes and making her work RedOne and Timbaland though, take a deep breath and check her Twitter.
“‘Cleopatra’ is NOT a song on my next record! It was written for another artist! I have no idea how it leaked, it’s a rough demo, unfinished!”
She also said this:
“I’m so tired of disrespecting, lying, sneaky little trolls that pretend to be human.”
OK, that last part is probably unrelated, but I just wanted to post it anyways because nothing is more awesome than a pissed off Kelly Clarkson.

Kiss plan twentieth studio album

Kiss guitarist Tommy Thayer says the band are preparing to record their twentieth studio album.

Thayer spoke to BackstageAxxes at the National Association Of Music Merchants trade show in California last week.

He said that Kiss are about to begin writing and rehearsing their twentieth album, and 'we'll probably be in the studio by March'.

'Sometime this year we'll see a brand spanking new Kiss album that's gonna kick some butt,' he continued.

Thayer confirmed that the album is likely to be produced by Paul Stanley much like 2009's Sonic Boom.

Thayer has been in Kiss since 2002, replacing Ace Frehley, and appeared on Psycho Circus, KISS Symphony: Alive IV, Japanese release Jigoku-Retsuden, and Sonic Boom.

Justin Bieber and Ozzy Osbourne to appear in Super Bowl ad

The Granddad of Darkness and the Pre-Pubescent Of Pop will appear in a Super Bowl advert together.

Reuters reports that Justin Bieber, and Sharon and Ozzy Osbourne have filmed a commercial for US electronics chain Best Buy.

They shot it in Los Angeles early in January but no details about the content of the advert have been revealed.

Super Bowl ads have become an artform in themselves, as brands spend millions on creating them and paying for airtime to reach an audience of over 100 million.

Other music megastars will appear at the game. Christina Aguilera is booked to sing the national anthem and the Black Eyed Peas will feature during the halftime show.

The 2011 Super Bowl ' Green Bay Packers versus Pittsburgh Steelers ' will take place in Dallas on February 6.

In case you're wondering where I'll be on Friday night, the plan is for me to attend the opening of Bound for Glory's first art show.

Now, I'm not a big fan of Staten Island (nothing against the people, just my least fave borough), but the fact that the show is curated by Friend of Tattoosday, Magie Serpica, makes it worth the effort. Magie originally appeared on Tattoosday here.

Robbie Williams is planning a musical about his life

The British singer ' who shot to fame as a member of Take That, who he joined when he was just 15 years old ' has given his permission for his solo material to be used in a new show being planned for the London stage and bosses have already started auditioning for two 'Robbies'.

A source told The Sun newspaper: 'Robbie is bang up for the musical and thinks it will be a fun production.

'He loves West End shows and is honoured they will be doing one about his life.'

A musical based on the life and career of the 'Angels' singer is sure to be filled with drama, from his rise to fame with Take That, to his dramatic departure in 1995, leading him to forge a successful solo career and eventually be honoured with more BRIT Awards than any other artist.

The 36-year-old pop star has also been in rehab several times to be treated for alcohol and drug addictions but has credited his marriage to actress Ayda Field last summer with providing some stability in his life.

He said recently: "Married life is a bit wonderful to be honest, yeah, it really is. Stability and happiness, I'm getting used to it but, you know, it was bound to happen at some point.

"Life feels different, there's like 15 per cent of rubbish that you're carrying round with you, well me anyway, that's just disappeared. It's great being part of a team."

In 2007, a musical based on the songs of Take That toured the UK, before enjoying a London residency the following year. www.music-news.com
