Ode to Phil

Yeah, it's kinda corny, and I might even be the only one who actually enjoys it...

But we celebrate Groundhog Day around these parts.  I think it started when the older kids were little, but I'd still want to celebrate it even if we didn't have any little ones around.

Judging by the enormous snow drifts in the backyard, Phil didn't even make it out this morning.  My prediction is that he's stuck inside like the rest of us and isn't going to be seeing his shadow or anything else for quite some time.

No worries, little furry friend.  We've got ya' covered.  Tonight we made our yearly "groundhog loaf".  The little girlies were lots of help.  I was lucky to even have hamburger in the house with this crazy blizzard, but we managed to find some interesting things to decorate "Phil" properly:  dried cranberries for eyes, rice crispies for teeth, and whales for toenails and ears.

Yeah, we outdid ourselves.
